Founded in 2009 by Dr Rebecca-Anne Do Rozario and Wiebke Eikholt, the Monash Fairy Tale Salon was a literary group of staff and postgraduates dedicated to the scholarly exploration of classic and contemporary fairy tales.
The group met regularly at the Monash University Clayton Campus (Australia), but also had members from other institutions, such as Deakin University and Melbourne University.
In June 2012, the group organised its first public symposium, and went on run two further annual events, details of which are on our Previous Events page.
For the majority of its time, the Salon was co-run by Dr Rebecca-Anne Do Rozario, Dr Belinda Calderone, and Catherine Snell. It closed in 2017 after all of the organisers were no longer affiliated with Monash University.
Many of the Salon members can still be found having lots of fascinating fairy tale discussions at the Australian Fairy Tale Society.
